Feeding Your Demons:

Transforming Inner and Outer Enemies into Allies

An Evening Program with Tsultrim Allione

Thursday April 10, 7:50 p.m. DH

Within the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism lies a meditation for facing, and dissolving, our demons and fears, anxiety, depression, anger, addictions and illnesses. Based on the traditional Tibetan practice of Chöd (“to sever”), this method was developed by a legendary female yogini, Machig Labdrön, almost 1,000 years ago. Tsultrim will present Machig’s revolutionary approach and a practical method to move from struggle to non-duality.

Drawing from Machig’s teachings and Tsultrim’s new book, Feeding Your Demons: Ancient Wisdom for Resolving Inner Conflict, we will explore a five-step process that can help you meet and release what the Tibetans call maras, or demons -that which blocks us from awakening. Using visualization and introspection, we’ll discover how our demons can be seen, nurtured and transformed into allies. If there is time, Tsultrim will also teach the Prajña Paramita, nature of mind meditation, which focuses on the non-dual ground of being as our true nature.

Tsultrim Allione, MA, was one of the first Americans to be ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun (in 1970 by the 16th Karmapa) and spent several years as a monastic in the Himalayas. She later disrobed, raised a family, and has become one of the most respected Buddhist teachers in the West. Having taught for more than 30 years, she is the founder and spiritual director of Tara Mandala, a retreat center in Colorado. Tsultrim is author of the groundbreaking book Women of Wisdom, the upcoming book Feeding the Demons: Ancient Wisdom for Resolving Inner Conflict, and the audio programs Cutting Through Fear and The Mandala of the Enlightened Feminine. www.taramandala.org
